Starting a Business

Starting a business in Hoonah begins by applying for a business license with the State of Alaska.  The City of Hoonah requires that you register your business with us by using the business application form.  It is required to turn in a sales tax form monthly, which can be found in the forms section.  Other useful forms for running a business in Hoonah include: The sales tax exempt form, Sign permit application, Utilities Agreement – which applies to your physical location and any residential dwellings within your business location, Vehicle for Hire permit application, Passenger for Hire Vessel permit application, and printing a copy of our sales tax section from the Hoonah Municipal Code.
